Six parts to effective reading

There are six parts in the Memletics® Effective Reading System. The parts are:

• Fluency. Read words and sentences quickly.
• Skimming. Select what to read while reading.
• Speed control. Vary speed according to content and purpose.
• Comprehension. Understand the meaning of what you are reading.

These six parts work together to help you understand what you read. Deficiency in any one of these areas means deficiency in the others. So, if you only try to improve one area, while ignoring the others, you'll receive less benefit. You get the best benefits from improving them all together.
